Federspiel began working in the Salesforce ecosystem in 2011, first at Internet Creations and later at Silverline. He subsequently co-founded Plative, a Salesforce consulting and implementation company. [2]

In 2015, he co-founded Blackthorn.io, where he became CEO and head of product. The company develops business applications that run on Salesforce, including products for events and payments. By 2021, Blackthorn reported more than 500 customers and over $8 million in annual recurring revenue. [4][3]
