About Bipolar Lives

Bipolar Lives is an independent informational and documentary project about people who have publicly disclosed bipolar disorder or whose diagnosis has been reliably documented.

The site is intended to make source-based information about bipolar disorder and the lives of people who have experienced it easier to explore.

The editorial approach and inclusion standards used by Bipolar Lives are described on the Method page.

Not medical advice

Bipolar Lives does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, psychotherapy, or crisis services.

Information on this website is provided for general informational and educational purposes only. It should not be used as a substitute for advice from a qualified healthcare professional.

Descriptions of a person’s experience with medication, hospitalization, psychotherapy, substance use, recovery, or any other aspect of bipolar disorder describe that individual’s publicly documented experience. They are not treatment recommendations.

You should not start, stop, or change medication or treatment based on information found on Bipolar Lives.

Not a crisis service

Bipolar Lives is not monitored as a crisis or emergency service.

If you or someone else may be in immediate danger, contact the emergency services or crisis resources available in your location.

Messages sent through the Bipolar Lives contact form should not be used for urgent mental-health or medical situations.

Profile information

Bipolar Lives attempts to present accurate, source-based information. Profiles are based on public statements, interviews, books, journalism, institutional sources, historical documentation, and other publicly available material.

Bipolar Lives does not independently diagnose the people appearing on the site.

A profile’s description of bipolar disorder, Bipolar I disorder, Bipolar II disorder, treatment, hospitalization, psychosis, recovery, or other clinical information is intended to reflect what the cited sources establish.

Information may be incomplete, become outdated, or be revised as stronger or more recent sources become available.

No endorsement or representation

Inclusion on Bipolar Lives does not imply that the person profiled endorses, supports, participates in, or is affiliated with Bipolar Lives.

Likewise, Bipolar Lives does not endorse every statement, action, organization, product, treatment, political position, or other activity associated with a person who appears on the site.

Profiles are presented for informational and documentary purposes.

Accuracy and corrections

Bipolar Lives makes reasonable efforts to use reliable sources and verify significant factual statements before publication, but no website can guarantee that every piece of information will always be complete, accurate, or current.

If you identify an error, unsupported statement, incorrect diagnosis or subtype, broken source, image attribution issue, or other problem, please use the Contact page to report it.

Bipolar Lives may correct, update, expand, shorten, or remove content at any time.
